APRS Protocol Specification

Overview

This is the official APRS Protocol Specification - formerly maintained as APRS101.pdf.

The latest version of the specification is always available on the APRS Protocol Specification website at:

https://aprs-protocol-specification.aprsfoundation.org

Any previous versions of the documentation maintained in PDF format, or otherwise, are null and void. Please archive or delete them.

Webification - IN PROCESS

The documentation is in the process of being converted to native Markdown. Markdown is a lightweight, easy-to-use, markup language. It's very easy to learn, requires nothing more than a text editor, and ensures documentation is highly portable.

Markdown is very well-documented and allows for eliminating vendor proprietary formatting and extensions that make it difficult to port documentation to other platforms.
